　　Just over 40 years ago, marriage in China was arranged by the state. Romantic love was seen as a capitalist concept and was not allowed during this period. Wedding photography (if any at all) consisted of one black and white passport photo of the couple (dressed in Mao- style outfits) as proof of the marriage. Now, China has fallen in love with love and its exploding wedding industry is worth 80 billion dollars, and it is on an upward curve. Pre-wedding photography is one of the most significant and curious parts of the industry. Every couple marrying in China will take part in a pre-wedding shoot. It involves several costume and backdrop changes where you can become a character in any fantasy you choose. For the most exotic lo- cations couples pay up to $250,000 AUD. Pre-wedding photo shoots have become an important national ritual. They are proof of the marriage but now also of love, romance, freedom, status, money and the new China Dream. As an expat living in Shanghai with a long history of coming to China, Sinophile photographer Olivia Mar- tin-McGuire was captivated by the construction of dreams through this booming photographic world. Once she started to delve deeper into this new traditional she found a unique window into China. One that revealed a country dreaming, a country rapidly booming and a country reconstructing its recent past trauma all through their own lens. China Love takes us on a wild journey into the warmth of the family web in China into the hearts of our characters and into their personal dreams with an understanding of why and where these aspirations come from. The project explores China's new position as a globalised country from its restrictive and highly traditional past - through the window of its booming wedding industry and asks what is the new China Dream when it comes to love.

　　Le nouveau documentaire de Marie-Monique Robin est avant tout l’histoire d’une cassure. Entre les décideurs politiques et une partie de la population réticente à se laisser imposer les doxas libérales, les visions du monde tel qu’il doit être mené semblent irréconciliables. Lorsque les premiers ne jurent que par la croissance, répétant le terme comme une formule incantatoire, les seconds espèrent en d'autres solutions et réfutent le productivisme et la consommation à tout prix. Les experts intervenant dans le film sont formels : sous la forme qu'elle a connue au XXe siècle, la croissance est terminée, elle ne reviendra pas. De nombreux paramètres ne leur laissent aucun doute, dont la fin de l’ère des énergies bon marché ou la dépendance croissante à la dette.

Alors, pendant que les États s’enfoncent dans la crise, des insoumis créent les prémices d’une société fondée sur la sauvegarde écologique et le développement durable. Avec Sacrée croissance !, la réalisatrice présente une sélection d’initiatives réussies et de modèles alternatifs viables. Son film élargit ainsi le champ des possibles en montrant comment on peut réfuter en action, et pas seulement en paroles, le modèle économique dominant. Avec une idée force : face au gaspillage mondial, la réponse doit être locale et solidaire. À Toronto, une coopérative de fermiers produit des légumes bio près du centre-ville et vise la souveraineté alimentaire. À Rosario (Argentine), on lutte contre l’exclusion sociale en fertilisant d'anciennes décharges pour embaucher des maraîchers débutants. Certains villages népalais s’approchent de l’autosuffisance énergétique grâce au biogaz et à la micro-hydro-électricité. Au Brésil ou en Bavière, des banques communautaires et des monnaies locales bouleversent le rapport à l’argent d’un public qui se fait "prosommateur" (producteur et consommateur). Quant au Bhoutan, il développe une politique publique révolutionnaire instaurant le concept du "Bonheur national brut" (BNB). "L’abondance matérielle finira par s’arrêter", rappelle un des intervenants. Et c'est avant qu'il faut changer de paradigme économique, insiste Marie-Monique Robin.

　　Filmmaker and gay activist Sridhar Rangayan embarks on a personal journey to expose the human rights violations faced by the LGBTQ community in India due to a draconian law Section 377 and homophobic social mores of a patriarchal society. The gritty documentary BREAKING FREE features searing testimonies of gay and transgender persons who have been victimized or exploited, as well as wide-ranging interviews with advocates and activists. See-sawing between despair and joy, anguish and hope, the film offers an insider view of the Indian LGBTQ community and is a documentation of its movement from invisibility to empowerment.
